Karen’s family started in this town with the Café Texan. I met her on a summer job while attending Sam Houston State, and I fell in love with her and eventually fell in love with the restaurant business. Farmhouse Cafe is what we built when we opened the doors here in 1993 — country cooking, room for the kids, sweet tea on every table.

“Everything was delicious! I love that the menu has plenty of hearty selections as well as plenty of light selections. The rolls and cornbread brought to the table with butter and preserves were a delightful start to the meal. We ate the daily specials — Poppyseed chicken, the chicken fajita ranch, wedge salad, fried green tomatoes. Restaurant is light, bright and not too noisy. Our server was so sweet, the whole staff that greets and seats was very nice and welcoming. Plenty of free parking.”

“We had a lunch stop here while traveling on New Year's Day. We were so happy to find it open. The service was super excellent. The servers were polite, helpful and upbeat. There was a full menu with tempting sides. The food was delicious. The baked sweet potato was huge, topped with toasted marshmallows. Thank you for such a good experience. The food was wonderful.”

“All 5 of us in my party had an outstanding experience! Starting with the Combo Appetizer Platter and ending with the Buttermilk Pie, all of my food FANTASTIC!! I especially enjoyed the fried avocado in the appetizer combo. I had the chicken fried steak with coleslaw and onion rings for my entrée. My steak was tender and breaded nicely; the white gravy was very good. My Buttermilk pie was tasty and the texture was perfect. Our waitress was appropriately attentive. The atmosphere had the feeling of a country kitchen. All prices were fair.”
